LUMINEERS®

Brooklyn Dentist

LUMINEERS® is a non-intrusive, pain-free solution for patients with crooked or off-white teeth. They are made of ultra-thin porcelain that simply slips over the teeth, creating a perfect, natural-looking smile. Installation can be completed with no surgery, no painful treatments, and no harsh chemicals.

Unlike dental veneers, LUMINEERS® last for over two decades with minimal intervention. They can be removed upon request to expose the intact original teeth.  Those with tooth decay or gum disease will need to be treated for those problems before being fit with LUMINEERS®.

It only takes two visits to get fitted with LUMINEERS® and instantly add a sparkle to your smile.

Dentists in Brooklyn may recommend LUMINEERS® to their patients to treat the following issues:

  • Misshaped teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Large spaces between the teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Uneven gums and teeth
  • Unnatural-looking bridges and crowns

What are the benefits of LUMINEERS® ?

LUMINEERS® are one of the least obtrusive correctional dental treatments and are perfect for patients with dental anxiety. LUMINEERS® require no painful alterations of the teeth and are practically unnoticeable once they are placed over the teeth. Speech and eating functionality are usually not affected.

Made of color-modified Cerinate porcelain, LUMINEERS® can utilize different levels of opaqueness and translucency to create a nearly invisible effect.

Some other advantages of LUMINEERS® include the following:

  • No harsh drilling of inner tooth mechanisms
  • Only two dental appointments required
  • Lasts over 20 years
  • No injections
  • No pain or discomfort
  • Thickness of a contact lens
  • Option to place multiple LUMINEERS® at the same time
  • Totally reversible treatment
  • Perfect, pearly-white teeth

How strong are LUMINEERS® ?

LUMINEERS® are made of extremely thin Cerinate porcelain but are less likely than dental veneers to break or chip. They are exceptionally strong and able to hold up against the average pressures put on natural teeth.

What is the process like for applying LUMINEERS® to the teeth?

Only two visits to the dentist’s office are required for LUMINEERS® application. During the first visit, the dentist takes impressions and X-rays of the teeth to figure out how exactly the teeth fit together. The teeth are then examined for any signs of decay or gum disease.

If everything looks healthy, the teeth will be etched to ensure that the LUMINEERS® properly adhere to the teeth. Unlike veneer application which requires extensive etching, drilling, and anesthesia, LUMINEERS® only requires a small amount of etching to achieve an equally beautiful result in half the time.

The color of the LUMINEERS® and the desired level of transparency will be discussed during the first visit as well, and this information along with the dental impressions will be sent to a laboratory where the LUMINEERS® will be custom-made.

At the second appointment, the LUMINEERS® will be bonded to the teeth with a bonding substance. Excess bonding substance will be removed by the dentist with a featheredge margin. Once the LUMINEERS® are in place, the dentist in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Dr. Shahin will polish them until they are completely smooth and comfortable.

When LUMINEERS® is smooth, it will be harder for staining agents and bacteria to adhere to their surface.

Up until this point, the LUMINEERS® will be attached where the bite impressions suggest teeth come together naturally, but at the end of the second visit, the LUMINEERS® will finally be separated.

When you leave Brooklyn Dentist, you’ll have a beautiful, healthy smile that should last you for many years to come.
